My Story

Hello and thank you for visiting my website, home of The Artist's Haven listed on Airbnb, as well as my pottery shop.

My name is Alexsondra Tomasulo, and I am the founder and sole owner of The Artist's Haven, and Ceramics by Alexsondra.
I live in a country cape, on the coast of Maine, with with one cat and a whole lot of art supplies. I believe every day is a day to create, and why not have the right tools at your finger tips.

I started my airbnb five years ago. Because I live in the house, I only rent to women. Over the years, I have been graced with the most interesting people, from as far as India, and as close as the next town over.

Some of the amenities I offer are an eco friendly environment, no dishwasher, reduced plastic, almost fragrance free home, except for essential oils. I also use only 100% cotton sheets, well ironed, and soft Turkish towels from KT Woven. I have on hand for sale, both the towels and locally made shampoo bars.

I offer a well curated list of dining options, sites to see, and hikes to take.

You can also book a private pottery lesson, or purchase the use of watercolors. Nothing like starting a little watercolor journal while in Maine.

Everyone needs a little get away, whether it's to finish that poetry deadline, or simply to enjoy the sites my beautiful peninsula has to offer. It is my pleasure to assist each guest in receiving the best experience possible. And having done so, I have earned the Super Host status on Airbnb.  It is my wish that each guest feel safe, respected, and blessed by their stay. You may view  my accommodations, here on my website. Please feel free to email me with any questions you might have regarding my little Haven.

Like many artists here in Maine, my studio is a converted garage, which houses 3 pottery wheels and enough space for small classes,(2-3 people) as well as my private ceramic work. I welcome visitors on a regular basis, giving demonstrations and offer chats with a warm cup of tea, to those who want to learn more of my process.

As for my pottery..I have been working with clay for close to fifty years. There have been many twists and turns to my journey, along with a few sabbaticals , but I always return to the quiet meditative hum of the wheel and the healing touch of the clay. What I enjoy most, is creating simple objects for every day use that add cheer and beauty to the hands of the receiver.
I am blessed to live where I can enjoy the  salty ocean waves, as well as the fragrant wooded pine forests. My pottery is a reflection of these combined energies, infused along with the potter's spirit and love.
My pottery is made using a variety of clay bodies, from manganese stoneware to white stoneware as well as porcelain. I keep my color palette somewhat softened, so as not to interfere with the colors of the meal presented upon it.
No two pieces are exactly alike, as I prefer to create small batches in one line.
Please message me with any requests for commissions and I will be happy to work with you.
